His Excellency Saud bin Hilal Al Shidhani, the Sultanate of Oman's Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania, visited the Omani pavilion at the fair, which features 24 government entities and private companies. He viewed the Omani products on display and listened to each participating organization's aspirations for the fair.
Following his visit, His Excellency stated that the Sultanate of Oman's participation in Saba Saba 2026 in the Tanzanian capital, Dar es Salaam, reflects the deep-rooted historical and commercial ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Republic of Tanzania, ties that have been cultivated over decades of communication, cooperation, and trade between the two friendly nations.
His Excellency added that this participation embodies the Sultanate of Oman's keenness to build upon the shared heritage and distinguished relations between the two countries, enhance prospects for economic and investment cooperation, and showcase the high quality and competitiveness of Omani products, thus contributing to opening new opportunities for trade partnerships and expanding the scope of trade exchange between the two sides.
His Excellency noted that the "Saba Saba 2026" exhibition is an important platform for showcasing Omani products and services and exploring opportunities in the African markets, which have a population of approximately 220 million in East Africa.
He pointed out that the participation reflects the Sultanate of Oman's interest in strengthening its commercial presence in promising markets and supporting the private sector's efforts to reach new partners and investors.
His Excellency commended the vital role played by the OPEX team in supporting Omani exports and promoting national products in foreign markets. He also praised the team's efforts, in coordination with the embassy, to enable Omani companies to explore expansion and growth opportunities, particularly in East African markets. This contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of Omani products, diversifying national income sources, and increasing the contribution of non-oil exports to the national economy.
He specifically highlighted the business forum organized by the team in coordination with the embassy, which aims to bring together representatives of the private sector in both Tanzania and the Sultanate of Oman, thus strengthening opportunities for cooperation and trade partnerships between the two sides.
His Excellency emphasized that these efforts align with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to enhance economic diversification and expand trade and investment partnerships with various countries worldwide.
He expressed his confidence that this participation will contribute to achieving positive outcomes that support the shared interests of the two friendly nations, especially given the continuous development of Omani-Tanzanian relations across various sectors.
He added that participation in this prominent economic event represents a further step towards strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries, serving their shared aspirations for development and prosperity.
On another note, the Omani Products Promotion Supervisory Team (OPEX), in coordination with the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the United Republic of Tanzania, will organize a meeting tomorrow, Thursday, for Omani and Tanzanian businesspeople on the sidelines of the exhibition. The meeting will explore trade partnerships, enhance import and export operations between the two countries, and highlight the services and facilities offered by relevant authorities to foster a favorable investment environment in the Sultanate of Oman.
It is worth noting that the OPEX team, comprised of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Riyada), is working to achieve a number of strategic objectives through its participation in this exhibition. These objectives include boosting Omani exports, supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), attracting quality investments to the manufacturing sector, strengthening trade relations, and leveraging economic agreements to increase the volume of trade and solidify the Sultanate of Oman's position as a vital industrial and commercial hub.
The team's international participation is part of its efforts to support economic diversification goals, enhance the competitiveness of Omani products, and open new horizons for national companies to access global markets. This contributes to increasing non-oil exports, attracting and localizing investments in industrial cities, and establishing the Sultanate of Oman's presence on the international trade and industry map, reflecting the diversity of its production base and enabling Omani companies to showcase their products and services to investors and importers from around the world.
