
Muscat: The Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies on Wednesday celebrated the graduation of the 39th cohort of the Joint Command and Staff College. The event took place at its headquarters in Bait Al Falaj Camp, under the patronage of Sayyid Hamoud Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, and in the presence of Maj.Gen Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies.
Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed Al Mashikhi, Commandant of the Joint Command and Staff College, stated in his address that the College continues to implement its development and modernization plans in line with the requirements of the present and the anticipated challenges of the future. This is achieved through the advancement of the education and training system, the enhancement of quality programmes and various excellence initiatives, all aligned with the rapid transformations in military sciences and modern technologies.
Subsequently, the Minister of Interior, the patron of the ceremony, presented awards to the top-ranking participants of the cohort and conferred certificates upon the graduates.
The 39th Joint Command and Staff Course is one of the specialised academic programmes designed to prepare and qualify officers for operational-level roles, equipping them with military knowledge and sciences through the latest curricula and training methodologies.
The 39th cohort commenced in August 2025, with the participation of officers from the Ministry of Defence, the Sultan's Armed Forces, other military and security services, as well as a number of officers from the GCC countries and several Arab and friendly nations.
The academic programme comprised three main terms, featuring a number of tactical and operational exercises, specialist lectures delivered by Undersecretaries and Ambassadors, and concluded with the execution of Exercise "Al Hazm," which served as the culminating event of the course.
The graduation ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, commanders of the Sultan's Armed Forces and other military and security services, ambassadors of Arab and friendly nations, senior officers from the Sultan's Armed Forces and other military and security services, military attachés and members of the College's directing staff and academic faculty.
