Al Musannah --- The National Employment Programme, in partnership with Sultan Qaboos Naval Academy, conducted a workshop to introduce the national initiative, codenamed "National Model for Transition from School to Work."
The workshop was held at the Said bin Sultan Naval Base in the Wilayat of Al Musannah, South Al Batinah Governorate, with the participation of officials and representatives from more than 20 entities from the government, military, and private sectors.
The workshop aims to enhance institutional integration among partners within the education, training, and employment system. It seeks to build more efficient transition pathways from school to work, raise the readiness of national competencies, and align education and training outputs with the needs of the labor market, thereby supporting the competitiveness of the national economy and keeping pace with the targets of Oman Vision 2040.
The workshop included a detailed presentation of the initiative, addressing its main pillars aimed at building professional readiness and enhancing professional identity among students from early educational stages. It also focused on utilizing the best international practices and experiences in designing effective transition pathways from education to work. This contributes to aligning education and training outputs with labor market needs, raising the efficiency of the employment system, and supporting sustainable economic development.
Furthermore, the workshop witnessed a review of the "Ship's Cook" program, which is implemented in partnership among the Sultan Qaboos Naval Academy, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Labour, the National Employment Programme, and Asyad Shipping Company. This program serves as a practical model for applying the concept of transitioning from school to work. It combines academic education, practical training, and professional qualification, enabling participants to acquire the skills and knowledge required to work in the maritime sector, ultimately leading to the employment of the program's graduates at Asyad Shipping Company.
This was followed by an extensive discussion session in which representatives of the National Employment Programme and participating entities took part. During the session, they discussed ways to develop the initiative, enhance institutional partnerships, and expand the scope of applying the national model. This aims to contribute to building a more integrated system that connects education, training, and employment, enhances the readiness of national competencies, keeps pace with the needs of the labor market, and supports the sustainability of economic development.
The workshop comes as part of the National Employment Programme's efforts to develop innovative national solutions that enhance integration within the education, training, and employment system. It also contributes to preparing a qualified human capital that possesses the necessary skills and competencies to help lead development, thereby supporting the competitiveness of the national economy, enhancing the efficiency of the employment system, and achieving the targets of Oman Vision 2040.
