Madaar Oman Program offers a Youth-Led educational and practical experience in Space Science

Muscat : The Youth Center, in collaboration with Etco Space, is implementing the Madaar Oman satellite training program. This program aims to develop the capabilities of Omani youth in space science and technology, enhance their practical skills in the field of small satellites, and connect space technologies to the strategic and national priorities of the Sultanate of Oman.

The two-week camp provides a comprehensive educational and practical experience. It begins with an introduction to the general context of the space sector and its growing ecosystem, followed by hands-on training in assembling satellite subsystems, conducting experiments related to wireless communications and the Global Positioning System (GPS), and analyzing Earth observation data. The program culminates in final graduation projects where participants apply the knowledge and skills they acquired during their training at the camp.

The camp focuses on providing participants with a practical understanding of CubeSats subsystems, including satellite structures, power systems, onboard computing, orientation and control systems, and communication systems. This allows participants to gain hands-on experience in how satellites operate and integrate their various systems.

It also highlights the potential applications of space technologies in several fields, including developing early flood warning solutions, maritime monitoring, agricultural sector monitoring, and combating desertification. This enhances participants' awareness of the growing role of space data and technologies in supporting sustainable development and decision-making.

The camp includes practical training that develops participants' skills in embedded systems, sensor data collection, radio (RF) communications, and geospatial data analysis. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical application and gives participants the opportunity to work with a range of tools and technologies used in modern space projects.

The program also introduces participants to the emerging space economy (NewSpace) in the region, and the opportunities that the sector provides in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship, in addition to learning about international programs and projects led by students and youth in the field of space, which contributes to expanding their horizons towards future professional and innovative opportunities in this sector.
