Muscat: The Youth Centre and Shell Oman Marketing company on Wednesday held a ceremony to mark the conclusion of the 3rd edition of a training programme codenamed “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro), which aimed to empower Omani youth in technologies related to sustainable transport, in addition to concepts of environmental sustainability.
The programme, implemented from 19 July to 27 August 2026, saw the participation of 35 young men and women from different universities and colleges.
The participants were introduced to the latest technologies of electric vehicles, including the industry’s infrastructure, simulation, planning, models of charging networks and vehicular maintenance and operation. They also learned about electric vehicles’ economic feasibility and their role in cutting down greenhouse emissions.
The programme elaborated on environmental challenges, the principles of sustainability and the targets set for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this context, the programme implemented workshops to measure environmental impact and interactive activities to develop sustainable solutions that suit local needs, in support for the Sultanate of Oman’s objectives of achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2050.
