
Muscat: Governorate of Dhofar is emerging as a promising destination for local and international investment, supported by its exceptional natural landscapes, waterfront locations, and significant potential for tourism and urban development.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has highlighted five key investment opportunities in the governorate, focusing on sustainable tourism, environmental conservation, integrated urban communities, and hospitality.
Among the featured environmental and eco-tourism initiatives is the Plant Memory Garden Project in Sahal Razat, covering 1.5 million square metres with an investment value of OMR 4 million dedicated to conserving rare plant species and supporting scientific research. Additionally, an eco-lodge and visitor centre at Khor Sanaq in Hasik spans 47,000 square metres with an investment of OMR 3.9 million to promote sustainable tourism using renewable energy, while the Al Hallaniyat Islands Tourist Diving Club covers 5,000 square metres valued at OMR 1.5 million to expand marine activities.
Urban development forms another core focus, led by the Sahool Al Rathath project at Atin in Salalah, which covers 470,000 square metres with an investment of OMR 40 million as an integrated destination for hospitality, retail, and entertainment. On a much larger scale, Salalah Future City spans 10 square kilometres with an estimated investment of OMR 1.9 billion, planned as a major urban development combining residential, commercial, healthcare, and educational sectors.
Together, these five investment opportunities represent approximately OMR 1.95 billion, underscoring Dhofar's growing potential as a hub for sustainable economic development. With its distinctive natural environment, coastline, and expanding infrastructure, Dhofar is positioning itself as an attractive destination while balancing large-scale economic growth with environmental conservation.
