Muscat: Muscat Municipality continues to implement the Al Ansab–Cement Factory–Al Jafnayn Road Dual Carriageway Project, which has achieved an actual completion rate of 90.17%.
The project forms part of the Municipality’s efforts to develop the road network and enhance infrastructure efficiency, contributing to smoother traffic flow, improved road safety, and meeting the needs of urban and economic growth in Muscat Governorate.
The project extends for approximately 15 kilometres, starting from the Falaj Al Sham area in Bausher and extending to the Al Rusayl–Bidbid Road intersection in the Al Jafnayn area in Seeb. It involves the construction of a dual carriageway with three lanes in each direction, increasing the road’s capacity and improving traffic efficiency between Bausher and Seeb.
This project comprises developing three roundabouts along Al Ansab Street, on the section between Muscat Expressway and the Falaj Al Sham area, transforming them into multi-level interchanges incorporating bridges and tunnels.
Additionally, constructing four new intersections in the regions of Al Awabi, the Cement Factory, the entrance to Misfah Industrial Area, and Al Jafnayn.
Thereby boosting traffic flow and reducing traffic congestion. The works consist of improvements to numerous service roads running parallel to the main road, constructing surface water drainage channels, and implementing necessary protection works.
Thereby enhancing the road’s resilience to various climatic conditions while advancing safety and sustainability across the infrastructure.
The project’s design and implementation were based on diverse specialised technical studies, including traffic, geological and hydrological studies, and topographical surveying.
These studies ensure that the project’s components are aligned with the characteristics of the area, traffic requirements, and urban expansion.
Upon completion, this project is expected to enhance connectivity between Bausher and Seeb wilayats, reduce commuting times, advance the efficiency of transport and logistics services, and facilitate access to residential, industrial and service regions.
It will support urban, economic and investment activities along this project route.
Thereby strengthening infrastructure efficiency and meeting the requirements of Muscat Governorate’s continuous growth.
