Muscat: Oman’s direct air link with Maldives has been shelved after the national carrier suspended its flights to Male.
Currently, no other foreign airline operates direct flights to the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in Male from the Muscat International Airport.
“Oman Air’s services from Muscat to Male have been directed via Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the Colombo-Male-Colombo sectors being operated on behalf of Oman Air by Sri Lankan Airlines, in line with the two carriers’ code share agreement,” a spokesperson from Oman Air said on Monday.
The nation located in the Indian Ocean is famous for its pristine beaches, and provides the perfect getaway for tourists. “Oman Air offers two flights per day to Colombo and onward connections to Male are both timely and convenient,” the spokesperson added. Oman Air had launched direct flights to Male from Muscat in October 2009.
