Transport Minister confirms Muscat Expressway expansion could begin by October

Muscat : The Muscat Expressway expansion project will begin in October or November 2026, the Minister of Transport said during a press conference.

"The Muscat Expressway expansion project was awarded, and the contractor received the commencement letter two weeks ago.  The work will begin in October or November," Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said.

"A plan to manage traffic congestion during the project's implementation will be submitted to the Cabinet."

"There is an ongoing study on traffic congestion and working hours, which may include changing working hours in some institutions." The Minister added.
