Duqm: The SMEs Development Authority (Riyada), in cooperation with the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, discussed mechanisms for developing local suppliers and raising their readiness to benefit from investment and contractual opportunities available with major companies operating in the zone.
This came during an introductory meeting held today to discuss the Supplier Development Business Centre in the Wilayat of Duqm, with the participation of a number of companies operating in the zone. The meeting aimed to introduce the centre's role and operational mechanism, and enhance integration between small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and major companies, thereby contributing to expanding local enterprises' participation in supply chains, contracts, and procurement.
The meeting discussed mechanisms to identify business and contracting opportunities available to SMEs, as well as building, updating, and linking an integrated database of local suppliers with the needs of companies operating in the zone, contributing to aligning the capabilities and capacities of enterprises with available opportunities.
Furthermore, the meeting reviewed programs and initiatives supporting the development and qualification of local suppliers, raising their technical, administrative, and operational readiness, and enhancing their competitiveness to benefit from the economic and investment opportunities witnessed in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
Through this cooperation, the Authority seeks to enhance local content, enable SMEs to access business opportunities, and build sustainable partnerships with major companies, thereby supporting their growth and expansion while boosting their contribution to achieving economic development.
