Oman Tourism College to enhance hospitality training with top company

Muscat: Oman Tourism College (OTC), the Sultanate’s only tourism college, recently signed an agreement with Lobster Ink, the world’s leading hospitality learning platform, for raising the college’s hospitality training profile to world-class standards.
The college has the distinction of being the first institution in the Sultanate to use the Lobster Ink platform to enhance training standards and outcomes. Training has already begun, and last week, approximately 20 hospitality faculty were inducted for using Lobster Ink for their students.

Commenting on OTC’s association with Lobster Ink, Dr. Abdulkarim Al Mughairi, dean of OTC said, “Oman Tourism College is proud to be the first academic institution in Oman to offer a Lobster Ink platform as a means for enhancing the service standards and product knowledge of our students. We chose Lobster Ink as it meets the highest and latest industry standards and as the platform is constantly updated to reflect new trends and standards.” Going into the specifics of the programme, Jaana Raisanen, director of Quality Professional and Vocational Studies at OTC, said: “Oman Tourism College’s goal is to integrate this video-based learning into the curriculum and to give students an innovative new international learning experience.

Subjects and modules that will benefit from Lobster Ink platform include Introduction to Culinary and Service Management, Food Production, Rooms Division, Hotel Operations, and Food–Hygiene and Safety Classes.”
“The programme is online and video-based, and keeps pace with the learning trends of the younger generation.
“Moreover, the training can be accessed from any device (PC, Tablet, or phone) with internet connectivity, and the students can continue to learn from home as well. The platform is sure to enhance the quality of learning at OTC.”
As many as 25,000 hospitality companies around the world, including major names, such as Hyatt, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Jumeirah International and more, are using Lobster Ink for their staff training.
