Muscat: The 21st Assarain Golf Classic, one of the most prestigious golf tournaments of the Sultanate, will take place at Ghala Golf Club on October 21 and 22.
According to a press statement issued by the organisers, the Assarain Golf Classic, sponsored by Assarain Group of Companies, is a premium golfing event that gives amateur golfers the opportunity to participate in a professional tournament that meets international golfing standards.
Ibrahim Al Wahaibi, Managing Director, Assarain Group of Companies and the pioneer of the Assarain Golf Classic, stated: “We support golf and are committed to help the game flourish in Oman. The tournament recreates the challenges similar to the ones faced at the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) and gives the players a chance to play under tournament conditions and feel the pressure of a seeded draw.
“We look forward to the 2016 edition of the Assarain Golf Classic and are confident that it will outdo all expectations.”
The 2016 Assarain Golf Classic is a highly anticipated golfing tournament, one that the entire Golfing community in Oman looks forward to.
Leon Sassen ,General Manager of Golf World, expressed the organisation’s pride in managing this event by stating:“It is an honour to associate with a golfing tournament of this magnitude.The Classic, to be staged at Ghala Golf Club, will witness the coming together of golfers of varying handicap who will take on the challenge of taming the greens.

The luxury watch will be on raffle this year for players participating in the event. All players and spectators will have a chance to win the luxury watch at the end of the presentation on October 22. This is yet another aspect that sets this tournament apart from all the others.
The 2015 Assarain Golf Classic witnessed participation by 126 players and this year, amidst rising interest, the registration had to be closed at 129 players. The 36-hole completion is one of the largest golfing tournament in the region and is open to all players with a verifiable handicap.The two-day stroke tournament will be opened on October 20 with a welcoming session at Ghala Golf Club.
