Grand Millennium Hotel to focus on luxury tourism in Oman

Muscat: Grand Millennium Hotel will focus on luxury tourism and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE).
Speaking to the Times of Oman during the media tour of the hotel, Martin Cramer, general manager of Millennium and Copthorne Hotels Oman, said the new hotel is centrally located in Bowshar, an area which lacked new hotels and will focus on luxury tourism and MICE.
“We saw a dearth of new hotels in this area and therefore we came up with the Grand Millennium at this location. It is conveniently located in the vicinity of major business areas in Oman and although there are other well recognised hotels around the area, they have been there for too long and fresh hotels are required. We will cater to luxury tourists and MICE, capitalising on our location.”
According to Cramer, plans for new hotels that will cater to all audience are in the pipeline and residents can expect a four-star hotel to come up by 2017.
“We plan to target every level of audience; therefore we will introduce a four-star hotel by next year, followed by a three-star in the future,” he added.
Welcoming the media guests for a tour of the hotel, Cramer also explained the architecture of the hotel as that of contemporary style with an Omani touch.
The seven-floor 320 room-hotel offers a rich mixture of classic rooms, club rooms, royal suites and executive suites, along with 32 apartments, six of which boast private terrace and swimming pools.
Commenting on the opening, Cramer noted; “We’ve recently begun welcoming guests, and without any publicity have been pleasantly surprised with the demand, with visitors coming from Oman, the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) and further afield.
The hotel has already hosted a good number of events in the ballroom, which is the perfect setting for large scale conferences and weddings. With sumptuously appointed rooms and suites, alongside spacious apartments, exceptional dining options, family friendly recreational amenities and the largest conference facilities of any hotel in Oman, the Grand Millennium Muscat offers the best-mix of business and leisure with unmatched hospitality. The hotel also features the largest ballroom conference facility in Oman, with the Crystal ballroom being able to accommodate up to 800 guests.
The hotel also features seafood and a continental restaurant, along with two cafes that cater to casual business meetings.
