MUSCAT: A medical journal by the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has been officially indexed by the United States National Library of Medicine for the MEDLINE/PubMed database.
The journal is an internationally peer-reviewed multi-disciplinary medical journal, published quarterly. It aims to be an internationally recognised regional medium of biomedical communication, encourage medical research and publication in Oman and create awareness among health professionals in Oman and beyond.
The database is the largest repository of life sciences and biomedical articles in the world and comprises more than 26 million citations.
The National Library of Medicine is the largest library in the world and indexes only those journals which meet their rigorous high standards, conform
to best practices and consistently publish high-quality scientific content.
There are currently only 5,634 journals worldwide indexed for MEDLINE and SQU medical journal is the first journal in Oman to have achieved this milestone.
The decision by the National Library of Medicine to index the medical journal is a tremendous achievement for the journal, the Sultan Qaboos University and the entire country and is indicative of the substantial progress the journal has made over the last several years.
