40.3% drop in Muscat International Airport's transit passengers

Muscat: Muscat International Airport reported a drop of 40.3 percent in transit passengers from the start of the year until the end of November 2016 compared to the same period last year, according to the latest data.

The National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), reported that the total number of transit passengers from January 2016 until the end of November 2016 was 17,301 compared to 28,958 during the same months last year - a 40.3 percent drop.

In November alone, 1,287 passengers transited through Muscat International Airport compared to only 517 the month before.

Over 9.9 million travellers touched down in Muscat during the 11 months of 2016 compared to the same period last year with just over 8.4 million registering a 17.9 percent hike.

901,129 arrived to Muscat in November 2016 compared to 861,454 in October.
