Invest Easy team working to develop one-stop-shop for approvals

Muscat: A team tasked with developing a one-stop-shop facility as part of the ‘Invest Easy’ scheme at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has taken several measures to integrate the public sector organisations with the scheme’s portal.
The team has been coordinating with various experts in these public sector organisations in this regard.
Procedures will be updated and plans will be formulated to ensure that these organisations’ licensesto undertake economic activities are converted into electronic ones so that they can do business online.
This is part of the efforts to facilitate and simplify the procedures. The organisations will then be able to provide many services and benefits to investors and the larger business sector on their portal. This portal will also be a single source for data related to business and investment in the Sultanate.
Abdullah bin Ali Al Kalbani, head of Sample Collection and Head of Licenses at Invest Easy Portal, said the team is currently working with the specialists at the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs to soon formulate a licencing system for conducting business online on this portal.
This will allow investors and entrepreneurs to submit their applications for licenses through this portal or through the transaction processing offices of the ministry or the 'Sanad' offices or through the internet. There will be no need for anyone to visit the public organizations’ offices to submit such applications.
He pointed out that specialists were on the job at the Ministry of Tourism to simplify and facilitate procedures related to licences for investment activities in the tourism sector.
As for the licenses related to the Ministry of Manpower, Al Kalbani said the team, in cooperation with the specialists at the concerned ministry, has completed the task of simplifying procedures for grant of licences for vocational training institutes, vocational training centres and training services offices.
"The team, in cooperation with the licence team at the Invest Easy Portal, has facilitated and simplified procedures for grant of environmental permits for those desiring to undertake any economic activities for which they need relevant licences," he concluded.
