Muscat: An event on the history of ships in Oman will be organised by the Cultural Club, in cooperation with the Cultural Committee of Muscat Festival 2017 at Club's headquarters in Muscat on Tuesday.
Elite researchers and experts in this field will take part in the event. A related exhibition will be held where experienced Omani sailors will showcase a group of ships and models, besides their historic briefing and navigational tools.
A corner will be allocated for books and publications about ships and navigation in Oman, as well as various publications of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture.
Hamoud bin Hamad Al Ghailani, expert at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture will give a lecture that will be presided over by Dr. Ibrahim bin Yahya Al Busaidi from the College of Arts and Social Sciences at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). Captain Saleh bin Said Al Jabri will present a documentary about "Jawharat Muscat" Ship, highlighting its voyage and history.
Discussions will be held for the audience around the history of ships in the Sultanate of Oman to familiarise with this rich history and civilisation. The exhibition will be open until February 2.
