Oman values Indian Ocean Rim Association's achievements, says Mantheri

Jakarta: Oman expressed its appreciation of the achievements made by the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) during the past 20 years and commended the efforts made to ensure the success and sustainability of IORA.
This came in the speech delivered by Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of State Council, head of the Sultanate’s participating delegation in the IORA Summit as assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
The Sultanate hopes that this Summit achieves its aims and contributes to enhancing stability and security of the IORA peoples and to contribute to achieving more progress in the political, social, economic and security fields.
The Sultanate called for more efforts to come out with a shared vision on how to address challenges faced by the world, ensure optimum utilisation of the natural and human resources and enhance cooperation among IORA members to achieve the aims and objectives of IORA leaders and peoples towards more prosperity and welfare.
Bilateral meetings
Earlier, Jusuf Kalla, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia received Dr Mantheri on the sidelines of the IORA) Summit.
During the meeting, Dr Al Mantheri conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to President Joko Widodo of the Republic of Indonesia along with His Majesty’s best wishes of good health and happiness to President Widodo and the Indonesian friendly people further progress and prosperity.
On his turn, the Indonesian Vice President asked Dr Al Mantheri to convey greetings of President Widodo to His Majesty the Sultan, along with his best wishes of good health and well-being to His Majesty, and the Omani people further progress and welfare under the wise leadership of His Majesty.
The meeting touched on the bilateral relations between the Sultanate and Indonesia and means of promoting them in various areas to serve interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.
Dr Mantheri also met Jean-Marie Le Guen, French Minister of State for Development and Francophonie. The meeting discussed the good relations binding the Sultanate and the French Republic and means of enhancing them in several areas.
During the meeting, the French Minister commended the wise policy pursued by the Sultanate under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, as well as the Sultanate's pioneering role in serving the international security and stability issues.
At the end of the meeting, the French official asked Dr. al-Manthri to convey greetings of President Francois Hollande and the French people to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, along with their best wishes of good health and happiness to His Majesty, and the Omani people further progress and prosperity under the wise leadership of His Majesty.
On his turn, Dr. al-Manthri asked the French Minister to convey greetings and best wishes of His Majesty the Sultan to President Hollande and the French people.
The meeting was attended by members of the Omani and French delegations.
