Times of Oman scoops top awards

Celebrating Oman’s rich heritage has earned Times of Oman one of the Middle East’s top digital honours for the second year running.
On Monday night timesofoman.com won gold in the Middle East Digital Awards 2017, given by the World Association of Newspapers (WanIfra).
Our microsite - timesofoman.com/extra/frankincense - exploring Oman’s centuries old relationship with Frankincense took the crown in the Data Visualisation category.
“Wow,” said judges. “This microsite had set a high standard when it comes to visual impact, clean design and ability to navigate and engage the user from beginning until the end.”
Times of Oman also won in this category in 2016, and went on to be among the winners of the World Digital Media Awards.
At the 2017 awards, held in Dubai, timesofoman.com also picked up silver awards for Best Website and Best Use of Video, and bronze awards for Best Mobile and Best Use of Social Media.
Chief Executive Editor Scott Armstrong said: “I’m thrilled that timesofoman.com has again been named as one of the best digital operators in the Middle East.
“It’s a fitting reward for the hard work of the team across digital, as well as winning for data visualisation again for their amazing project. It was great to see the Times TV team rewarded, essentially being named as the best English online video service in the region.”
