Republican Senator Susan Collins said President Trump should 'step back' and 'not comment' on special counsel Robert Mueller who is overseeing the federal investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, during an interview on CBS "Face the Nation".
Newspaper reports said Trump's lawyers are reviewing ways to limit or undermine the special counsel. Another Trump lawyer, Jay Sekulow, told the New York Times that addressing possible conflicts of interest in Mueller's team would be appropriate but declined to comment on specifics.
"I understand how difficult and frustrating this investigation is for the president, but he should not say anything further about the special counsel, his staff or the investigation," Collins said
