Wray confirmed by Senate to lead FBI after Comey firing

With a 92-5 vote in the U.S. Senate, former Justice Department lawyer Christopher Wray has been confirmed as the new FBI chief.
"On this nomination, the yays are 92, the neys are 5, the nomination is confirmed."
The Senate Tuesday confirming Christopher Wray as the next Director of the FBI, nearly three months after the firing of James Comey by President Donald Trump.
"No collusion, no obstruction. He's a leaker."Comey's firing drew widespread criticism, and suggestions that Trump dismissed him over his frustration with handling of the FBI's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election.
This led to the nomination of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is now heading up the investigation.
Wray vowed during his confirmation hearing to remain independent and not be swayed by politics... or the president.
"I will never allow the FBI's work to be driven by anything other than the facts, the law, and the impartial pursuit of justice -- period, full stop."
He served as an assistant attorney general under former President George W. Bush and worked with Comey on the Enron fraud scandal in the early to mid-2000's.
While the FBI will be assisting Mueller in his Russia investigation, Wray will not be directly in charge of it in the way Comey was.
