Wage protection system in Oman a step closer

Muscat: The government is "working on developing" the wage protection system for Oman residents, the Ministry of Manpower has announced.
The system, when introduced, will automatically inform the Ministry of Manpower if a private company fails to pay salaries on time.
"Workers will no longer need to report to the Ministry of Manpower when they do not receive their salaries, as the wage protection programme will notify the ministry of any delay by businesses to pay wages," the ministry said online.
"The wages protection programme aims to guarantee that workers receive their salaries at the exact time based on labour laws, and in accordance to the agreed upon amount," added the ministry.
"The programme is not active yet, but the ministry is still working on developing it," An official from Ministry of Manpower said.
