484 held for violating Labour Law in Oman

Muscat: Four hundred and eighty-four workers, including 306 commercial workers, 32 farm workers and 46 housemaids and their equivalents were apprehended between February 28 to March 5 by the joint inspection team at the Ministry of Manpower for violating the Labour Law. The competent authorities at the Ministry of Manpower are taking legal procedures against them.
On the other hand, the Manpower Ministry statistics showed that 321 expatriate workers were deported for violating provisions of the Labour Law and the ministerial decisions executing the law.
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) deported 33 infiltrators through Muscat International Airport on Tuesday.
The ROP requests people to provide help to legal authorities to combat this phenomenon, not to hire, give shelter or facilitate the entry of unchecked labourers into the territory of the Sultanate and immediately call the emergency number 9999.
