Muscat: After satisfying outings in the practice and qualifying sessions, Omani star Shihab Al Habsi is hoping for a positive result in the CIK-FIA World Championships at Paul Fletcher International Circuit in the United Kingdom.
Ahead of Sunday’s final races, where Shihab Al Habsi is competing in the OK Junior category of the World Junior Championships, the Omani boy did exceedingly well in the free practice and qualifying races and sounded confident of doing well in the final race.
“My aim is to achieve positive results and to reach the leading positions and to continue achieving better results in other international championships,” Shihabd said.
In Saturday’s qualifying Heat A-F, Shihab clocked 57.359 seconds to finish third.
On Friday, after the first free practice race was cancelled due to rain, Shihab topped the second free practice race in a time of 57.117.
In the third free practice race, Shihab finished fifth place in 56. 926 seconds and in the final free practice race, he finished ninth place in 57. 823 seconds.
Ready for challenge
Shihab expressed his readiness for Sunday’s races, including the final while sounding confident of achieving good results.
Meanwhile, the main organising committee of the championship held a meeting with the drivers to explain the technical aspects and regulations of the event.
The organising committee also explained the safety procedures to be followed during the races.
