Muscat: Doha-based Qatar Airways can operate up to 14 flights a week from Sohar from December 1, according to Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA).
From October 1, Qatar Airways will be flying seven times a week to Sohar. “In the winter schedule, they will be seven more flights to Sohar airport,” PACA said.
The Country Manager of Qatar Airways–Oman, Joe Rajadurai, said they have gotten a very good response after they launched flights to Sohar in August 2017. “That is one of the reason we went daily from October 1. Now we have got approval for 14 flights a week,” he explained. The flight from Sohar connects well to Far East and Middle Eastern countries via Doha. The Doha-Sohar route is being served by an Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring 12 seats in the Business Class and 132 seats in the Economy Class.
Sharjah-based budget airline Air Arabia has also started operating 16 flights a week to Sohar from today.
Sohar airport has become the third hub for international airlines in Oman as Qatar Airways, SalamAir and Air Arabia have started direct services to Sohar, according to PACA.
