Muscat: A new accommodation wing that will allow families of long-stay patients to be with their loved ones at the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH) will be ready by mid-2018.
The new building has been gifted to SQUH by MB Foundation, the charity arm of MB Holding Company LLC.
The building was donated by Dr. Mohammed Al Barwani, chairman of MB Holding Company LLC, at a cost of OMR1 million, with facilities for patients and their accompanying family members at SQUH. The building is being primarily built for low-income patients and those who receive social insurance.
“The building has been under construction for almost two years now and will be done by mid-2018,” said Rahma Al Barwani, head of Communications and External Affairs at MB Holding Company LLC. “The donation has been chosen from the SQUH list, and is funded by the MB Foundation.”
Al Barwani added: “It is for SQUH patients, who live far away and can’t come several times a day to the hospital, for example the chemotherapy patients. There are 40 apartments, with some being two-bedroom apartments and others single bedroom ones.”
The MB Foundation has been running social development projects since its establishment in 2011. With a commitment towards help others by giving back to the societies and communities they operate in, the foundation focuses on sustainable projects in its agenda.
