Salalah: Dhofar University will host the first international symposium on frankincense and medicinal plants on October 26, in the presence of scientists and specialists from international institutes and universities under the patronage of Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Rowas, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan for Cultural Affairs.
Dr. Hassan bin Said Kashoob, President of Dhofar University, said that this symposium comes as one of the scientific research fields of the University to highlight the importance of frankincense throughout history.
He added that the symposium is an opportunity to Omani researchers to contribute by their scientific output and to meet with the international researchers in the fields of medicinal plants.
The symposium includes several working papers for researchers and specialists from inside and outside the Sultanate on “The Integrated Environmental Management of Frankincense”, “Economic Analysis of the Omani Industrial Frankincense Product” and “The Possibility of Using Omani Frankincense Components as Effective Treatments.” It also includes working papers on “Techniques for New Discoveries of Omani Frankincense”, “Frankincense and its Components as Effective Treatments”, “New Strategy for Treating Diseases Caused by Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria Using Some Omani Frankincense Extracts”, and “Chemical Studies Conducted on Omani Frankincense.”
