Oman now has a new home delivery app

Muscat: A new delivery service app called ‘ERSAL’ has been launched, which will soon allow customers to receive their products without the need of a postal address.
In a first of its kind joint venture between Fetchr and Oman Post, ERSAL aims to tackle delivery challenges by eliminating the need for a traditional address, using mobile technology solutions. The app is designed to enhance customer delivery experience.

Oman Post will be the first public post entity in the Middle East to revolutionise its last mile delivery postal service by enabling delivery access via mobile in contrast to the traditional requirement of a physical address.
“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Fetchr, and be the pioneers in this region and offer our citizens and residents the latest and best in technology and delivery service,” said Abdulmalik Al Balushi, chief executive officer (CEO) of Oman Post.
Customers place orders for products online, then once the order is confirmed, the customer will receive a link to the Ersal app, and from there they can schedule their order using GPS technology. The app allows customers to choose the date and time of the delivery which suits them. A real-time tracking service is also available on the app.
“We are changing that paradigm, making sure it’s the job of the logistics company to find you and eliminate the need to stay home for six hours waiting for a delivery,” said Idriss Al Rifai, CEO, of Fetchr
The launch event for ERSAL took place under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, minister of Transport and Communications.
“Currently, the app is only available to business owners, who require a delivery service (B2C), but by January of 2018, the service will also cover individual to individual delivery,” added Al Balushi. ERSAL will enjoy direct access to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries through the Fetchr network.
