Muscat bourse remains flat

Muscat: Muscat bourse remained relatively flat and with the general index finishing at 5,295.88 points, marginally down by 0.03 per cent.
The MSM Sharia Index gained 0.15 per cent to close at 824.78 points. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume, while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. Gulf International Chemicals, which moved up 8.78 per cent, was the top gainer, while Oman Textiles was the top loser, down by 9.89 per cent today.
As many as 939 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating turnover of OMR3.1 million with 14.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 14 advanced, 13 declined and 18 remained unchanged. Omani investors stayed net buyers for OMR523,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR349,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR872,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,475.81 points, down by 0.13 per cent. Al Batinah Development, Gulf Investment Services, Al Madina Investments, Takaful Oman and Ominvest gained by 7.14 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 1.69 per cent, 1 per cent and 0.83 per cent, respectively. BankDhofar and HSBC Bank declined by 2.61 per cent and 2.06 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index increased by 0.05 per cent to end the session at 6,547.32 points. Gulf International Chemicals and Oman Cements gained by 8.78 per cent and 1.78 per cent, respectively. Oman Textiles, Voltamp Energy, Al Hassan Engineering, Oman Cables and Al Jazeera Steel declined by 9.89 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.62 per cent and 1.48 per cent, respectively.
Services Index fell by 0.18 per cent and finished at 3,035.38 points. Sharqiya Desalination, OIFC and United Power advanced by 1.85 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.15 per cent, respectively. Renaissance Services, National Gas, Phoenix Power and Port Services moved down by 3.45 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.54 per cent, respectively.
