Muscat: Students of Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) won gold and silver medals at the ‘Tournament of Champions’, the Final Round of World Scholars Cup, held at Yale University in the United States.
The theme of the Tournament was ‘An Unlikely World’.
The students were tested for their writing, debating and quizzing skills in the four team events known as Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Bowl, Scholar’s Challenge and Team Debate.
The annual mega event is conducted in three rounds.
The Regional Round was held at British School Muscat in which many schools from the region participated enthusiastically.
Twelve students from ISG qualified for the Global Round which was held in Athens, Greece in which about 1,500 students participated.
After a keenly contested round, eightstudents of ISG - Alisha Amjad, Aparna Krishnan Reshmy, Faiza Reza, Khadija Akbar, Kshama Mumbai, Nikitha Manoj Thomas, Nitu Andrews Machilath and Roshna Sharon Manogaran qualified for and participated in the Final Round.
After hardwork and perseverance, the students of ISG came home with medals. They won 8 gold medals, 14 silver medals.
A Cultural Fair and a Scholar’s Ball were also held which helped students learn more about cultures and traditions of other countries.
