Attempts to smuggle bullets, cigarettes and tobacco foiled

Muscat: Police foiled attempts to smuggle bullets, cigarettes and illegal tobacco products into Oman in Buraimi, Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced.
In a statement online, ROP said, "Buraimi police officers prevented a smuggling attempt by two people to smuggle more than 100 rounds of bullets for conventional weapons into the Sultanate through one of the borders."
"Police officers at the Hafeet police station and Wadi Jizi arrested four people as they tried to smuggle a number of boxes containing banned cigarettes and 27 kilograms of tobacco in two separate operations," a spokesman explained.
The suspects were referred to the judicial authorities to complete the legal proceedings.
