Muscat: Badr Al Samaa edged Spinneys to lift the Corporate Cup in the Republic Day of India Al Yam Cricket Cup at Al Gubrah Powerplan Ground on Friday.
In a thrilling final, Spinneys, after being asked to bat first, scored 98 for the loss of four wickets in eight overs.
Prashanth and Mohsin with 41 and 38 runs respectively were the main contributors for Spinneys. For Badr Al Samaa, Jaleel took two wickets.
In reply, Badr Al Samaa achieved their target with a six off the last ball of the match. Ansar with 42 runs was the topscorer for the winners while Zubair smashed an unbeaten 36.
Indian Ambassador Indramani Pandey presided over the final day’s proceedings in the presence of guests of honour Aftab Patel, Managing Director of Al Omaniya Financial Services, Mohammed Hussain, Managing Director of Fahad Logistics, Arun Kumar Pandey, Managing Director of Al Yam Enterprises, Uday Dhanani, Anil Jwader, Dr. Khalid Hussain, Nitin Sujnani, General Manager of ISC, and Sanjay Tiwary, Managing Director of National Stones.
The individual awards went Spinneys’ Prashanth (best batsman), Mass International’s Bebin (best bowler), Badr Al Samaa’s Zubair Bin Mohammed (best all-rounder), Badr Al Samaa’s Ansar (man of the match) and Badr Al Samaa’s Zubair bin Mahammed (player of the tournament).
