Nearly 100,000 cars recalled in Oman for faulty airbag

Muscat: Just under 100,000 vehicles have been recalled by a car dealership in Oman for having a fault in the airbag system that could lead to the serious injury or death of a passenger, the Sultanate's consumer watchdog announced.
The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), in cooperation with the car dealership, carried out a campaign to call back 99,407 vehicles in the country. The recall was due to the discovery of a possibility that the front airbags could be ruptured, as a result of the decomposition of the material due to exposure to harmful external conditions over a long period of time. According to the authority, "such acts may cause injury or death to the passengers".
The company plans to replace the compound airbag for the front passengers.
