
Muscat: Two people of “Asian” nationality were arrested by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) on charges of smuggling drugs and entering the country illegally, officials have announced. In another case, police deported 105 people for illegally entering the country.
According to the police, the smugglers who were associated with an international drug smuggling gang, were caught with cannabis and other narcotic pills in Muttrah.
The suspects were arrested after illegally entering the country "by sea and for the possession of more than 43 kilograms of cannabis and other narcotic pills," ROP announced online.
"The Directorate General for the Control of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances arrested two people of Asian nationality in Yiti, in the Wilayat of Muttrah on charges of smuggling drugs in association with an international gang and for entering the country illegally,” ROP added.
Talking about the other case where 100 people of “Asian” nationality were deported, ROP said that, the deportation of the "105 infiltrators" was in accordance with legal procedures
