Muscat: The design for Oman’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai was revealed by His Highness Sayyid Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said.
The Sultanate will be participating in Expo 2020, which will hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The event is on from 20 October, 2020 and will go on until 10 April, 2021.
The pavilion which was chosen and approved by the Main Ministerial Committee was revealed under the title 'Oman - Opportunities Over Time'.
The architectural design is inspired from the frankincense tree and its historical association with Omanis. The shape of the building represents and embodies the frankincense tree. The design is based on a central trunk where the visitor's experience begins.
From this central trunk, spaces intersect at different levels with the display areas. The outer façade of the pavilion resembles branches of the frankincense tree.
