Manpower ministry extends ban on expat work permits

A ban on some jobs for expats by the Ministry of Manpower has been extended.
Affected professions are those of purchase and sales representatives, and workers for construction, cleaning, and workshops.
"Permits for non-Omani manpower will cease to be released for the next six months for the following professions: Sales Representative/Promoter, Purchase Representative. Permits for replacements for existing employees will continue to be released."- Ministry of Manpower's decision number 487 of the year 2018.
This law will apply to all private establishments, replacing the earlier decision starting from the 30th of November, 2018.
Moreover, according to Ministerial Decision No. 122/2014, further six months suspension for non-Omanis employed in carpentry, aluminum, blacksmith and brick factories.
