Oman's share index resumes its downward journey

Muscat: The MSM30 index resumed its downward journey to levels last seen almost 14 years ago. The index closed at 4,166.38 points down by 0.33 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 570.81 points, down 0.38 per cent. A cross deal of 3.2 million shares in DIDIC made it the most active in terms of volume and turnover. DIDIC remained the top gainer for the day, closing higher by 7.14 per cent while the top loser was Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles, which closed lower by 3.95 per cent.
A total number of 169 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.36 million with more than 9.93 million shares changing hands. Out of 31 traded stocks, 3 advanced, 5 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR147,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR2,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR149,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed lower by 0.24 per cent at 6,708.23 points. DIDIC and Muscat Finance closed higher by 7.14 per cent and 1.18 per cent respectively, while prices of Bank Sohar was down by 2.59 per cent.
Industrial Index was down by 0.50 per cent at 4,859.38 points. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramics, Al Maha Ceramics, and Oman Cement were down by 3.95 per cent, 2.97 per cent, and 0.67 per cent respetively. There were no gaining stocks from the sector on Sunday.
Services Index closed at 2,145.59 points, down by 0.09 per cent. Price of Muscat Desalination closed at OMR0.132, up 1.18 per cent. Ooredoo was down by 1.49 per cent at OMR0.530.
