Muscat: The MSM30 index stood higher and closed at 4,166.30 points, up by 0.46 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 561.74 points, up 0.19 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Oman Chlorine was the most active in terms of turnover. Oman Chlorine, up 5.45 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was SMN Power Holding, which lost 19.67 per cent.
A total number of 357 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.31 million with more than 7.20 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 11 advanced, 8 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR108,000, followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR91,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR199,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed higher by 0.35 per cent at 6,690.77 points. Al Anwar Holding, HSBC Bank Oman, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Nizwa and Bank Muscat were up by 3.49 per cent, 1.63 per cent, 1.15 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 0.97 per cent respectively. Bank Sohar and National Bank Of Oman were down by 0.89 per cent and 0.54 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was down by 0.16 per cent at 4,804.11 points. Oman Chlorine was up by 5.45 per cent. Salalah Mills and Oman Flour Mills were down 1.67 per cent and 0.68 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed higher by 0.15 per cent at 2,139.62 points. Omantel, Ooredoo, Renaissance Services and National Gas were up by 1.68 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.18 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively. SMN Power Holding, Al Jazeera Services, Phoenix Power and Almaha Petroleum Products were down 19.67 per cent, 2.88 per cent, 1.05 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively.
