Oman's share index ends lower marginally

Muscat: The MSM30 index stood lower and closed at 4,076.88 points, down by 0.79 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 558.82 points, down by 0.22 per cent. Bank Dhofar was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover. Almaha Ceramics, up 2.63 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Omantel, which lost 6.01 per cent.
A total number of 305 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.82 million with more than 8.16 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 12 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR42,000, followed by Omani investors for OMR30,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR72,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed lower by 0.20 per cent at 6,563.87 points. Gulf Invest Services Holding was up by 1.79 per cent. Al Madina Takaful, Bank Nizwa, Bank Muscat, and Oman United Insurance were down by 2.3 per cent, 1.11 per cent, 0.49 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was down by 0.05 per cent at 4,757.90 points. Almaha Ceramic and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were up by 2.63 per cent and 1.35 per cent respectively. Oman Fisheries and Raysut Cement were down 1.85 per cent and 1.6 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed lower by 0.71 per cent at 2,093.84 points. Al Jazeera Services was up by 1.9 per cent. Omantel, Dhofar Generating Company, OIFC, Al Batinah Power and Sharqiyah Desalination were down 6.01 per cent, 2.91 per cent, 1.25 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively.
