Muscat: Registering its best daily returns in the previous three weeks, the MSM30 index reversed its recent declining trend and closed higher by 0.35 per cent at 4,067.67 points. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 558.01 points, up by 0.61 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Dhofar was the most active in terms of turnover. Al Anwar Ceramics, up 8.75 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Oman Qatar Insurance, which lost 3.51 per cent.
A total number of 953 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR3.12 million with more than 26.42 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 15 advanced, 5 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreigners were net buyers for OMR64,000 followed by Omani investors for OMR30,000, while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR94,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed up by 0.24 per cent at 6,569.12 points. Gulf Investment Services, Al Sharqiya Investment Holding, Bank Dhofar, Al Anwar Holding, and Bank Sohar were down by 3.39 per cent, 2.35 per cent, 1.41 per cent, 1.11 per cent, and 0.92 per cent respectively. Oman Qatar Insurance, Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, HSBC Bank Oman, and Oman United Insurance were down by 3.51 per cent, 1.04 per cent, 0.81 per cent, and 0.72 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was up by 1.36 per cent at 4,873.67 points. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles, Galfar Engineering, Gulf International Chemicals, Oman Fisheries, and Oman Cement were up by 8.75 per cent, 5.00 per cent, 3.39 per cent, 1.85 per cent, and 1.79 per cent respectively. There were no sector losers on Monday.
Services Index closed lower by 0.08 per cent at 2,062.28 points. Al Jazeera Services, OIFC, and Al Batinah Power were up by 7.55 per cent, 1.22 per cent and 1.09 per cent respectively. Sembcorp Salalah was down by 3.33 per cent and closed at OMR0.145.
