Oman's share index ends higher marginally

Muscat: The MSM30 index stood higher and closed at 4,112.31 points, up by 0.57 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 560.40 points, up by 0.39 per cent. Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of volume and in terms of turnover. Al Madina Investment, up 6.67 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Construction Materials Ind., which lost 6.90 per cent.
A total number of 1137 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR3.22 million with more than 31.65 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, 19 advanced, 8 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR136,000, followed by Omani investors for OMR13,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR149,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed higher by 0.77 per cent at 6,662.46 points. Al Madina Investment, Gulf Invest Services Holding, Al Batinah Dev. Inv. Holding, Al Madina Takaful and Taageer Finance were up by 6.67 per cent, 6.56 per cent, 5.88 per cent, 3.57 per cent and 2.11 per cent respectively. Al Sharqia Investment Holding, Oman United Insurance and HSBC Bank Oman were down by 1.12 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was down by 0.06 per cent at 4,875.66 points. Oman Fisheries and Oman Chlorine were up by 5.56 per cent and 2.75 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles and Raysut Cement were down by 2.22 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed higher by 0.49 per cent at 2,072.19 points. Shell Oman Marketing, OIFC, Al Batinah Power, Al Jazeera Services and Dhofar Generating Company were up by 5.45 per cent, 4.88 per cent, 3.23 per cent, 2.56 per cent and 0.98 per cent respectively. Al Suwadi Power and Phoenix Power were down 2.11 per cent and 1.06 per cent respectively.
