Oman's share index closes higher marginally

Muscat: The MSM30 index stood higher and closed at 4,165.98 points, up by 0.31 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 555.65 points, down by 0.05 per cent. Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. Ahli Bank, up 3.57 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Sembcorp Salalah, which lost 6.21 per cent.
A total number of 605 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.72 million with more than 9.57 million shares changing hands. Out of 37 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 16 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net sellers for OMR502,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR22,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR524,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed higher by 0.50 per cent at 6,727.86 points. Ahli Bank, Bank Muscat, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Nizwa and Bank Sohar were up by 3.57 per cent, 1.43 per cent, 1.12 per cent, 1.12 per cent and 0.87 per cent respectively. Gulf Invest Services Holding, Al Madina Investment, Oman And Emirates Inv. Holding, Al Anwar Holding and Al Sharqia Investment Holding were down by 4.62 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 3.16 per cent, 2.17 per cent and 1.18 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was down by 0.70 per cent at 4,790.19 points. Oman Flour Mills and Oman Chlorine were up by 1.75 per cent and 1.54 per cent respectively. Oman Fisheries, Al Jazeera Steel Products, Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles, Oman Cement and Galfar Engineering were down by 3.23 per cent, 2.53 per cent, 2.3 per cent, 1.38 per cent and 1.19 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed lower by 0.54 per cent at 2,076.24 points. Almaha Petroleum Products was up by 1.39 per cent. Sembcorp Salalah, Sohar Power, Al Jazeera Services and OIFC were down by 6.21 per cent, 3.51 per cent, 3.33 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively.
