Muscat: The MSM30 index stood lower and closed at 4,074.27 points, down by 0.21 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 551.71 points, down by 0.07 per cent. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume and in terms of turnover. Oman Fisheries, up 1.64 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Majan College, which lost 7.37 per cent.
A total number of 284 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.30 million with more than 13.93 million shares changing hands. Out of 29 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 10 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR59,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR53,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR112,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed lower by 0.08 per cent at 6,650.47 points. Gulf Invest Services Holding, Alizz Islamic Bank, Al Madina Takaful and Bank Nizwa were up by 1.61 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 1.11 per cent and 1.1 per cent respectively. Taageer Finance, Bank Dhofar and Oman United Insurance were down by 5 per cent, 2.01 per cent and 1.13 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was down by 0.28 per cent at 4,801.35 points. Oman Fisheries was up by 1.64 per cent. Raysut Cement, Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were down by 1.71 per cent, 1.22 per cent and 1.16 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed lower by 0.05 per cent at 2,027.63 points. There were no gainers on Wednesday. Majan College, Muscat Gases, OIFC and National Gas were down by 7.37 per cent, 5.71 per cent, 1.16 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively. — United Securities
