Muscat: An Aluminium workshop owner was fined OMR 1,550 by the court, for lack of transparency while providing services.
In a statement, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) said, “The Court of First Instance in Rustaq recently issued a judicial judgment against the accused for violating the Consumer Protection Law issued by Royal Decree No. (66/2014), convicting him for his lack of commitment as a provider of transparency and credibility when serving the agreed service.”
Two consumers had filed a complaint against the aluminium workshop after not delivering services as per agreement.
They (the aluminium workshop) had agreed to install aluminium windows and doors for their (the customer’s) houses according to specifications and had agreed to complete the work within 20 days.
After the investigation and meeting with all the parties, it was found that the corporation had violated Article 19 of the executive regulations of the Consumer Protection Law (77/2017).
The court ordered the accused to pay all legal expenses incurred along with the fine.
