Oman's share index closes lower marginally

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower and closed at 3,983.66 points, down by 0.55 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 531.52 points, with no change. Global Financial Investment was the most active in terms of volume while Sohar International Bank was the most active in terms of turnover. Dhofar Int. Dev. And Inv. Hold., up 9.03 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Omantel, which lost 6.13 per cent.
A total number of 486 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.09 million with more than 18.43 million shares changing hands. Out of 30 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 10 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR56,000 followed by foreigners for OMR4,000 worth of shares, while Omani were net buyers for OMR60,000.
Financial Index closed higher by 0.04 per cent at 6,541.28 points. Dhofar Int. Dev. And Inv. Hold. and Al Anwar Holding were up by 9.03 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively. Gulf Invest Services Holding, Al Madina Takaful and Oman United Insurance were down by 1.69 per cent, 1.1 per cent and 0.39 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was lower by 0.22 per cent at 4,637.04 points. Raysut Cement was up by 2.58 per cent. Oman Fisheries, Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles and Oman Cement were down by 2.9 per cent, 1.28 per cent and 1.17 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 1,979.61 points, down by 0.96 per cent. National Gas was up by 0.96 per cent. Omantel, Oman Oil Marketing, Al Suwadi Power and Al Batinah Power were down by 6.13 per cent, 2.74 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 1.14 per cent respectively.
