Motorists risk losing insurance if found crossing flooded wadis intentionally

Muscat: With many parts of Oman likely to receive heavy rainfall in the coming days, the Capital Market Authority (CMA), has warned drivers against crossing overflowing wadis “intentionally”.

In a statement issued online on Saturday, CMA has warned that motorists who willfully attempt to cross flooded wadis lose their entitlement to any motor insurance-related compensation if they suffer any losses.

"Dear driver: Crossing wadis on purpose and putting yourself and others at risk, while ignoring Royal Oman Police Instructions, could cost you the right to financial compensation, as per your insurance clauses and the unified vehicle insurance, which exempts harm done to the vehicle on purpose."

The statement also called for caution, adding, "The authority calls all citizens, residents and business owners to adhere to safety instructions during rainfall and wadi flow, which can keep them and their property safe."
