Muscat: Driven by price declines in Service Sector stocks, MSM30 index closed lower on Sunday at 3,870.93 points, down 0.13 per cent. Sharia Index closed stable at 530.34 points, up 0.03 per cent. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of volume and turnover. Sohar International Bank, up 0.92 per cent, was the best performing stock on Sunday while Muscat Finance, down 3.03 per cent, was the top loser.
A total number of 209 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR829,000 with more than 3.22 million shares changing hands. Out of 27 traded stocks, 2 advanced, 7 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors remained as net sellers for OMR212,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR125,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR87,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed higher by 0.07 per cent at 6,278.32 points. Sohar International Bank closed at OMR 0.110, higher by 0.92 per cent. Prices of Muscat Finance, Gulf Investment Services, and Al Anwar Holding were down by 3.03 per cent, 1.82 per cent, and 1.03 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,602.57 points, down by 0.32 per cent. Galfar Engineering and Oman Fisheries were down by 2.47 per cent, and 1.82 per cent respectively.
The Services Sector Index closed at 1,946.74 points, down by 0.35 per cent. Sembcorp Salalh closed at OMR0.111, up 0.91 per cent. Prices of Renaissance Services and Omantel were down by 2.13 per cent and 1.44 per cent respectively.
