Bengaluru: India's high-tech hub Bangaluru has suffered major power outages over the past two days after heavy rains plunged the city in darkness. Residents in the Silicon Valley of India took to social media to voice their frustrations, with thousands railing against service provider BESCOM. One user wrote to the company, "Can you please solve this issue. Every day there are unnecessary power cuts. Nowadays even when the rain stops there a power cut from night to the afternoon. That amounts to more than 12 hr. My small town's power facility is better than the current situation in Bangalore. Can you do something for us." Others appealed directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Twitter user Avishek Ganguly wrote: "Dear Sir, not sure if this is the right way to reach you but I had no other option. I stay in Bangalore and use @NammaBESCOM's service for electricity. They have been the worst providers and too many power cuts that sometimes even for days. Can you please help here?" "Dear PMO team, the people of Bangalore are suffering from frequent power cuts, every day and almost every weekend. This power cut issue is in most parts of Bangalore. Yesterday there was a power failure for almost 9 hours. We need your help to resolve this," drpreeti36 tweeted to the Prime Minister's Office.
