Muscat: MSM30 Index closed marginally lower on Sunday at 3,915.25 points, down 0.08 per cent. Supported by gains from Bank Nizwa and industrial sector stocks, the Sharia Index went up by 0.16 per cent before closing at closed at 544.36 points. Bank Dhofar was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Vision Insurance, up 9.90 per cent, was the top gainer while National Life & General Insurance, down 6.45 per cent was the top loser.
A total number of 230 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR601,000 with more than 4.59 million shares changing hands. Out of 29 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 8 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors switched to net sellers for OMR89,000, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR81,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR7,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,261.05 points, lower by 0.21 per cent. Vision Insurance and Bank Muscat were up by 9.90 per cent, and 0.97 per cent respectively. National Life & General Insurance, Bank Nizwa, Sharqiya Investment Holding, and Ahli Bank were down by 6.45 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 1.32 per cent, and 0.84 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index witnessed gains of 0.81 per cent before closing at 4,756.50 points. Oman Fisheries, Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Cement, and Galfar Engineering were up by 3.08 per cent, 2.97 per cent, 2.54 per cent, and 1.22 per cent respectively. There were no losing stocks from the sector on Sunday.
Services index was down 0.25 per cent before closing at 1,944.09 points. OIFC, up 2.22 per cent was the only gaining stock on Sunday. Al Batinah Power, Renaissance Services, Ooredoo, and Omantel were down by 1.32 per cent, 1.26 per cent, 0.41 per cent, and 0.34 per cent respectively.
