Muscat: MSM30 Index closed at 3,918.90 points, up 3.65 points, or 0.09 per cent. The Sharia Index also followed suit, closing higher by 0.06 per cent before closing at 544.68 points. Special deals of 15.5 million shares resulted in Ominvest being the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Ominvest, up 3.73 per cent, was the top gainer while SMN Power, down 9.68 per cent was the top loser.
A total number of 319 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR6.24 million with more than 22.47 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 13 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR4.44 million, while GCC & Arab investors remained as net sellers for OMR4.30 million, followed by foreign investors for OMR151,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,288.62 points, up 0.44 per cent. Ominvest, National Bank of Oman, and Bank Nizwa were up by 3.73 per cent, 1.23 per cent, and 1.14 per cent respectively. Al Omaniya Financial Services, Muscat Finance, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Muscat, and Ahli Bank were down by 4.76 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 0.96 per cent, and 0.85 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index witnessed decline of 0.24 per cent before closing at 4,745.01 points. Construction Materials Industry closed up 2.94 per cent on Monday. Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 2.41 per cent, and 0.96 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.27 per cent before closing at 1,938.80 points. Al Jazeera Services, up 1.82 per cent was the only gaining stock on Monday. SMN Power, Sembcorp Salalah, OIFC, Omantel, and Ooredoo were down by 9.68 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 0.69 per cent, and 0.41 per cent respectively.
